Hello Everyone!

Some pieces of information concerning our November activities.

DENVER CONCERT. Our 2008 Veterans Day Concert is confirmed for 7:00 pm , Sunday, November 2, 2008, again at the First Church of Denver, CO, 3800 E. Hampden Ave. Englewood , CO, Tel: 303-761-8370, www.denverfirstchurch.com.  Rehearsals start 7:00 pm , Wednesday, October 29 – they may be held at the church this year.  By popular demand, we will try to have Screen Actor Michael York and operatic Tenor Daniel Rodriguez back with us.  Will have program details out soon.

DENVER HOTEL.  It is again the Embassy Suites Denver Southeast, 7525 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80231, Tel: 303-696-6644, http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=DENHPES.  Rate is $124 per room per night, single or double occupancy.  Our price is good from Monday, October 27, through Tuesday, November 4.  Those who were with us last year will recall that the hotel is in a great location and is next door to a shopping mall and many eating establishments.  The price includes complimentary hot breakfast and afternoon happy hour.  Call 800-EMBASSY or 303-696-6644 for reservations and identify yourself with VA-National Medical Musical Group to get our special rate – you must be a duly registered VA-NMMG member!  Cut off date for making reservations is October 14, 2008.

OVERSEAS TRIP.  A conversation is ongoing concerning the Balkans trip.  We have had a low turnout, and I’ll fill you in on developments once they firm up.

2008 REGISTRATIONS. If you haven’t done it yet, please register for the 2008 season.  Registrations are good for one calendar year, and you must be duly registered in order to qualify for the concerts, hotels, trips, etc.  Also, since we anticipate a low income from the overseas trip, try to send in a donation if you can.  We will surely need that this year!  Donations are tax deductible – see below.

DONATIONS.  As you probably know, we have kept our registration fee low at $75.00 for lo these many years despite inflation and rapidly escalating expenses.  However, I would encourage all to continue to be as generous as you can – and have been – in contributing to VA-NMMG, over and above that Registration fee.  Thank you all who made contributions!  See the updated categories on the Registration Form.  For registrations using a credit card, go to our secure site www.medicalmusical.org, click on “Join” and “Donate”.  You may also print the form posted on the website and mail it with your check to VA-NMMG, Attn: Robert Wisleder, 197 Juniper Lane , Hanover , MA   02339-1247 .  Please do not use our Washington , DC , or Virginia addresses.

DC PHOTOS, YOUTUBE.  As you know, the official pictures from our May 14 concert are now posted.  Visit www.medicalmusical.org, click on “Photos”.  While at it, visit our “Videos” section, recently renovated by Kurt.  Another surprise that Kurt pulled off is a VA-NMMG posting on YouTube!  It is again of Melodee Mercer’s news story about us.  See it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsqMYhkVQUc.  Thanks Kurt and, of course, Melodee!

TIM RUSSERT VIDEO CLIP.  I had mentioned a video clip featuring the late Tim Russert as he hosted our very first Congressional Flag Day Concert in June 1996.  Kurt has now posted that clip under “Videos” on our website (it is the last one in the queue).  Although the footage is home video quality, it brings bittersweet memories of Tim Russert.  Thanks again Kurt!

A Registration Form is attached for your convenience.

Regards.  Victor
